Grey the Sky

Song of the Day: Ticket to Ride by the Beatles

I didn’t write about my birthday just yet, but of course it was fun and cool and all- I got nifty presents, and at school we bought some kitkats and had a delirious kinda party at the cantine.

Speaking of school… I don’t want to talk about school. Already two weeks!! Wow. Sure goes fast. Or should I say… ONLY two weeks… and we already have tests being piled on us?! Sigh. Well, this obviously means I won’t be able to post as much- not like you care. Not like I was posting much anyways. I like to post only when I have something worthwile to talk about, or when I feel like it. The latter today, since this post is evidently a very boring one.

I’m thirteen now. It’s a change, I don’t feel it yet but I know I will soon. I need change. Speaking of which, I  may be going to UWC. Good? Well, I WOULD prefer going to OFS, do I have to say why, and UWC seems quite a competititional school to me… see?! I don’t even qualify with that kind of vocabulary. So- bad? I guess not, since it is a new school and I have been aching to go to a new school since my friends left. Speaking of which, again, Chloé is leaving to Vietnam! Today was her last day… sigh… I feel even more alone. Oh, another peak is that it’s an english school.

Hope you’re all doing fine. I guess I am… for now. Well, I mean, I haven’t started revising my history test yet…

Underrated.

Can we please talk about this? Solange Knowles is obviously the younger sister of my beloved Beyonce Knowles, but less talented? I don’t think so. I think she is definitely one of the most underrated R&B musicions there are. I was just today listening to her song I Decided from her second album Sol-Angel and the Hadely St. Dreams released in 2008 and thought to myself “Why the hell isn’t she as successful as Beyonce?” I don’t have an answer to that question.

But just for the sake of, here it is I Decided by Solange.

Isn't It Ironic...And Something about Kanye

Last night, in light of Serena Williams’ outburst at the Open, Emily shared this quote with me. It appeared in Reader’s Digest.

“Now’s your time to shine. Be confident. They want to see you angry. Be angry, but don’t let them see it. Play angry, but let them see confidence. Play angry, but let them see patience. Play angry, but let them see certainty. Play angry, but let them see determination.” ~ from On the Line by Serena Williams.

And, seriously, was anyone truly surprised by Kanye West’s outburst at the VMA’s last night? He has a certain pattern of behavior that would have all in attendance expecting some kind of immature display. He’s an incredible artist, but his ego is huge and sense of respect for others is limited. However, I would agree that I’m not sure Taylor Swift should ever win an MTV award. But, I’m not called on to judge that. Also, I heard on the radio this morning that Swift had been warned that something like this good happen. So, was this really West being ridiculously rude (okay, I don’t know if he was ridiculously rude, as he grabbed the mic he did say something along the lines of “congradulations…no disrespect”) or was it simply an attempt by MTV to create controversy and buzz (as with Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen at the last awards show)? Kanye’s antics really go in line with some of what I spoke about at church Sunday. What he said was true…But, when, how, and why he said it was kind of wrong. He did more damage than good.

#2: Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood – 2. Opening – Hologram

#3: Tales of the Abyss – Opening – Bump of Chicken

(Das ist zwar das game Opening, aber das Lied vom Anime is dasselbe)

#5 :Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann – Opening - Sorairo Days

Kanye interrupts Taylor Swift at the VMA's

So I thought this side of Kanye was gone, but no. While on stage receiving her award for best female video at the 2009 MTV VMA’s in New York City, Taylor Swift was met by Kanye West who jumped up on stage to protest against Beyonce not winning. There’s been a fair amount of backlash on Twitter and apparently Kanye and girlfriend Amber Rose were consequently kicked out of the show. To make things worse Taylor had to perform after the add break. Check the video.

The Flu

Yes, it seems I have caught the flu epidemic. It also means that I am having problems with doing activities except for lieing in bed and playing the ps3. I can’t work as I get headaches so the PS3 Compeitition information on all the trophies was put on holdback today, I hope to continue before it begins otherwise I may have to hold back the competition.

Sorry for the letdown guys.

how's life?

So much has already happened in so short a time. I don’t even know where to start. Maybe not even bothering covering the short past is best. But 2 things have really made me happy the past few weeks. My wakeboarding trip and my surfing trip. Funny, cuz as a little boy i had always watched TV and seen all these big boys surfing and wakeboarding etc. I didnt think that at any point, i’d be doing it pretty well.

I for one am surprised at the way things in my life are going. As i move up in the world and earn a living, it seems that new experiences keep opening up for me to try. Given my personality, i’d try them all almost and get addicted to a few. But these hobbies are not cheap. There are so many things I want to buy, i want to do, places i want to go. All involve money, money, money. The more you get to afford, the more you crave for more. Hence the trap of materialism.

For a while, most things didnt matter, only music and expression. How is it that in less than a year, so many other things have also become important? Maybe they are just experiences, or releases of stress or vacations form work. But in the end, nothing seems to satisfy. Is this the human condition? To forever want and long for things they don’t have, yet tire of those they do, in exchange for more or something new.
